Hines, Henrietta "Etta"- 96, Truro, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late William and Mabel (Mentis) Dorrington. Henrietta was a member of Zion Baptist Church, Truro. In her youth she was a member of the C.G.I.T. and Mission Band; member and secretary of the U.M.S. Missionary and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 26, Truro, Ladies Auxiliary. Henrietta was well known for her voice and she sang all over Truro as a soloist in many of the churches. She also sang with the junior and senior choir of Zion Baptist Church before moving to the States. Henrietta continued her education at Bramilton College of Cosmetology in North Folk, Virginia. She later returned to receive her nursing degree in Atlantic City. Henrietta was fortunate enough to see the world due to her husband Macio being in the American Navy. She enjoyed her four years in North Africa. Henrietta was a devoted mother and grandmother, great-grandmother.

Henrietta is survived by a son Murrice, New Jersey, Troy, Ontario; Daughters Tonya Simmons, Truro, Lisa Roberts,  New Jersey; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and beloved friends.

Henrietta was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Macio Hines; daughter  Joyce in infancy; brothers, William Jr., Frederick, Murray, Horace, Douglas, Arthur, Harold; sisters, Marion, Hilda, Betty,  Emily.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. No visitation by family request. Funeral service will be announced and will take place at a later date.  Donations in Henrietta’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
