Elizabeth Alice "Betty" Rodd - Salmon
River, Colchester County.
We are deeply
saddened to announce the passing of
Elizabeth Alice
"Betty" Rodd in her 82nd year, who passed away peacefully on
Sunday, May 23, 2021, at the Magnolia Home of Rosecrest Communities,
Enfield, N.S. Betty was born at Doyles Brook
in the New Brunswick Miramichi region. She was the daughter of the
late Silas and Margaret (Gallan) Curtis. Betty loved feeding the deer
and the birds. She also enjoyed entertaining her grandchildren,
canoeing in nature, geocaching, bus tours and making many wonderful
friends. She was also a proud Amateur
Radio Operator, holding the call sign of VE1LVW, and was well known by
many of the Amateur Radio
Operators.
She
is survived by her husband, Harold of 58 years; sons, Ken (Kathi) of
Rockwood, ON, Paul (Karla) of Brookfield, N.S. and Daughter Cindy of
North Bay, ON.; Five grandchildren; Ryan, Caitlyn, Jalyssa, Kyle and
Tanner; four great grandchildren; Shania, Korina, Bryson and Landon
many nieces and nephews. Survived also by brothers Thomas Curtis
(Elva) of Truro and Dorwin Curtis of Westbank, B.C.
Along
with her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Phyllis Peterson,
Nora MacLeod, Winnifred Sprague, Louise Mowbray; and brother Leon
Curtis.
Arrangements have
been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young
Street, Truro, where a private funeral service will be held on
Wednesday, May 26, 2021, with Reverend Greg Porter
officiating. (Webcasting of the funeral service will be
available at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021; click on the
"Video of Funeral" icon. This link will remain active for
some time after the funeral service.) Private interment will take
place in the Watson Cemetery, 1997 East Prince Street, Salmon River.
If so desired, donations in Betty’s memory may be made to
the Colchester Community Workshop.
