Matheson, Eileen Ella - 95, of Truro, died peacefully at Wynn Park Villa on Thursday, September 16, 2021. Born in Denmark, Nova Scotia, she was the eldest daughter of the late Emma Elizabeth (Cameron) and Dewitt Alexander MacLeod.
Eileen is survived by her daughter, Susan (Paul Judice) and granddaughter, Claire Judice. She enjoyed a special bond with her niece, Kathy (Mingo) Tattrie and adored all her nephews and nieces, Ricky and Scott Mingo; Rita, David, Brenton and Jason MacLeod; Gary and Brian Matheson.
Eileen was predeceased by her husband, George; daughter, Kimberly Jane; sister, Lorraine (Mingo) and brothers, Aulden and Harlan MacLeod.
Eileen was blessed with a loving family and an idyllic childhood spent between a Nova Scotia farm and summer downtime at the Brule beach cottage. She cherished her family and friends and maintained close ties with her sister, brothers, family and friends throughout her life.
She studied secretarial skills at the Provincial Normal School in Truro. After graduation, and with an ever-present adventurous outlook, she moved to Toronto, where she worked at the head office of Boy Scouts of Canada until her daughter was born. Eileen was a member of Trinity United Church in Onslow and sang in the choir for many years. She was artistic and loved to crochet, knit and quilt. Although she loved to travel, she was never happier than when she was home in Nova Scotia - a proud ‘Bluenoser' until the end. Her warm sense of humor, welcoming and generous bright spirit will be deeply missed.
Interment will be 10:30 am Friday, September 24, 2021 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Denmark. Funeral service will be held 1 pm Friday, September 24, 2021, at Trinity United Church, Reverend Glenn MacLean officiating. (Due to Covid-19 restrictions, seating is limited and you must pre-register to attend the funeral service by calling 902-893-3177; thank you for your cooperation and understanding. If so desired, donations in Eileen’s memory to a charity of choice are welcomed.
