James Howard "Boot" Boutilier – 82, Truro, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 27, 2021, in Truro, as a result of years of health complications. During his years of illness, Boot maintained a positive outlook, was stubborn and fought death right until the end. Born in Bridgewater, he was raised by the late Mel and Lorna MacPhee in Shubenacadie.

Boot worked as a carpenter all of his life and was always building or fixing something. He was a member of RCAF Association. Boot loved life and enjoyed playing many different card games including Bridge, 45s and crib and he also enjoyed bowling, dancing and long Sunday drives. He was very generous and would do anything for anyone. Many will remember seeing Boot wearing his sailor hat, pipe in mouth with Sail tobacco and carrying his bowling bag.

Boot is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Sharon (Hatfield); two children from a previous marriage; step-daughters, Kristi-Ann Brown, Halifax; Dawna Marie Brown, Truro; grandchildren, Danielle, Scott, Kitara, Danyll, Adrian, Taylor, Kori, Eli; sisters, Amy Sarty, Mae Eisenhauer, Halifax; brother, Stanley Boutilier, Red Deer, Alberta; half-brother, Avard MacPhee and family, Shubenacadie.

Celebration of Boot’s life will be held at a later date at Truro Lions Club. If so desired, donations in Boot’s memory to Truro Lions Club are welcomed.
