Sandra Aileen (Carter, MacKenzie) Hatfield - 78, Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Saturday morning, October 9, 2021, at home. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late William "Burt" and Theda (Carter) MacKenzie.

In earlier years, Sandra worked as a hairdresser and then devoted her time to raising her family. Sandra was a kind and thoughtful person who loved her family and friends dearly. Being friends with Sandra meant that you had a friend for life. She and Ed were known and loved for their dancing, and it was a joy to watch them on the dance floor together. She was a member of TOPS Club, enjoyed weekly Bingo outings to Great Village and playing Yahtzee with her group of friends. Usually an easy going person, Sandra became very competitive when playing cards, especially Crazy 8s!

Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Ed; children, Darren Hatfield (Bonnie Graham), Scotch Village, Hants County; Stacey (Steve) Smicer, Greenfield, Queens County; Pamela Hatfield (David Loveless), Toronto; Karla Hatfield, Cole Harbour; step-daughter, Cindy (Doug) Foley, Wetaskiwin, Alberta; grandchildren, Julie Hatfield, Liam MacDonald, Brennah Loveless; step granddaughters, Sonya Smicer, Melissa Foley; siblings, Gordon (Cheryl) MacKenzie, St. Andrew’s, New Brunswick; Norman (Norma) MacKenzie, Tatamagouche; nieces, Tracy, Kerry, Heather; nephews, Scott, Derek.

Special thanks are extended to VON Home Care whose support allowed Sandra to remain in her own home and to the staff of 6B Dickson Centre, Halifax.

Interment will be held at a later date in Mahon Cemetery, Great Village. If so desired, donations in Sandra’s name to Diabetes Canada or Colchester SPCA are welcomed.
