Lynds, Claude Davis
– 82, of Valley. It is with great sadness we announce
Claude’s passing on Saturday, October 30, 2021, surrounded
by his loving family, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre.
Claude is survived by
his son, Kevin Lynds (Sharon Barron), Valley; daughters, Gwen (Gordon)
Cook, Debert; Darlene Lynds (Marianne MacGrath), Onslow Mountain;
sisters, Wanda (Sandy) Swallow, Upper Stewiacke; Vonnie (Donnie)
Brenton, Hilden; brother, David (Valerie) McCallum, Truro;
grandchildren, Damian, Matthew and Ashley Cook, Debert.
He was predeceased by
his loving wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Grace (Henderson) Lynds;
grandparents, Hiram and Minnie (Cavanaugh) Lynds "Mum and
Dad"; mother, Gladys (Lynds) McCallum; step-father, George
McCallum; sister, Donna McCallum.
Claude worked for 45
years at the former Riversdale Lumber (Sproule Lumber), currently JD
Irving. He was a member of Valley United Church where he volunteered
as a Cub Scout Leader, a Church Steward and an Elder. He was an
associate member of Truro Legion Branch #026. Claude enjoyed family
camping trips, Bluegrass festivals with Elizabeth and friends as well
as the cross Canada trip he and Elizabeth took with Elroy and Marj
Geddes. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Shannon and
Cheryl, Claude’s close neighbours who were always there for
him.
Arrangements have been
entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young
Street, Truro. There will be no visitation by request. A
funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, November 6, 2021, at
Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, April Hart officiating.
(Please note that proof of double vaccination and photo
identification will be requested prior to entry of the funeral home
for funeral service, and masks must be worn at all times; thank you
for your co-operation and
understanding.) Webcasting of the funeral
service will be available beginning at 1:55 p.m., Saturday, November
6, 2021, and will remain on this site for a period of time
thereafter.Interment to follow in Crossroads Cemetery. Family
flowers only. If so desired, donations may be made to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
