Doris Leona Pearson – 97, Murray Siding. On Saturday evening, January 8, 2022, Doris enjoyed the company of her family, Susan, Paul and Anita, and played a game of Skip-Bo with them, which she won! Shortly afterwards, she went to bed for the evening and peacefully and quietly passed away. Although we are saddened that she is no longer with us, we take great comfort in the fact Mom was in her own home and surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Shelburne, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Lulu (Jones) Pentz.
Doris was a member of Brunswick Street United Church and the UCW and was a dedicated member and worker with the Ladies Auxiliary of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro. During the war, she worked as a telephone operator and also worked at the downtown Zellers store in Truro for many years. She enjoyed traveling, reading, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing Skip-Bo and sewing. She will be dearly missed.
Doris was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by her children, Paul (Anita) Pearson, Kingston, Ontario; daughter, Susan Pace, Bible Hill; grandchildren, Michael (Kyra), Andrew (Lana), Craig (Mieka), Scott, Jennifer (Tim); great grandchildren, Kezyan, Emily, Julia, Sadie, Archie; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald; siblings, Shirley, Earl, Russell.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Doris' family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m., Saturday, April 23, 2022, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 23, 2022, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Interment in Crossroads Cemetery, 110 Salmon River Road, Valley. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Doris’ memory to Canadian Cancer Society or VON Home Support (Colchester – East Hants) are welcomed.
