Hilda Wanita Eagles – 89, Truro, passed
away peacefully, with her loving daughter at her side, on Monday,
April 11, 2022, at Wynn Park Villa, Truro. Born in Westchester, she
was a daughter of the late Ralph and Annie Gertrude (Hollis)
Rushton.
Hilda attended Truro Heights United Baptist Church, where she
sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies Circle and Ladies
Auxiliary and also attended Zion United Baptist Church. She worked at
The Palliser for a number of summers. She enjoyed crafting, especially
quilting, and galavanting around with her girlfriends when she was
able. She shared a special bond with her close friends, Phebe Smith,
Joyce MacDonald, Norma and Joe Lambourne, Ida Hutt and Catherine
Goodall.
Hilda is survived by her children, Lyle Eagles, Tatamagouche;
Douglas (Wendy) Eagles, Alberta; Darlene (Bruce) Johnson, Crowes
Mills; Kevin Eagles, Alberta; grandchildren, Kari (Nicole) Lennerton,
Upper Onslow; Jeffrey Johnson (Amira Faulkner), Halifax; Matthew
Eagles (Shandel Holloran), Alberta; Daniel Eagles, Dartmouth; great
grandchildren, Alexis Lennerton, Porter Lennerton, Faithlyn
Millington, Skyla Eagles, Samuel Millington, Makayla, Alysia,
Adrianna; siblings, Reta McNutt, Brookside; Mildred Langille,
Londonderry; Phyllis O’Brien, Ontario; sister-in-law, Debbie
Rushton, Belmont; several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Ralph Eagles; daughter, Heather Eagles; daughters-in-law, Kathy
Eagles, Diane Eagles; siblings, Lesley in infancy, Muriel McNutt, Lois
Stone, Bamford Rushton.

North Unit at Wynn Park Villa.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Hilda’s
family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2022,
and funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2022, Reverend
Connie Stewart officiating. Interment in Robie Street Cemetery, 125
Robie Street, Truro. If so desired, donations in Hilda’s
memory to Wynn Park Villa (Recreation Department) are welcomed.
