Hartlen, Alfred
Richard - 91, of Truro passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the
Colchester East Hants Health Centre with his family by his side. Born
in Halifax, he was a son of the late Arthur and Frances (Hobin)
Hartlen.
Alfred enjoyed stock
cars in his younger days and loved to travel. He had a long career
with CN Rail. He was a devoted fan of the Blue Jays and spent many
hours woodworking.
Alfred is survived by
his sons, Arthur (Betty) Hartlen; Dwayne (Debbie) Hartlen;
step-daughters, Wanda (Brian) Scott; Cathy (Glenn) Coates; sister,
Noreen Sinyerd; sister-in-law, Carol Hartlen; grandchildren, Scott
(Jen); Glenn (Carrie); Darcy (Amy); step-granddaughter, Chelsey; great
grandchildren, Jaden; Landen; Nicholas; several nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by
his first wife, Helen Hartlen; second wife, Jean (Doyle) Hartlen;
sisters, Dorothy (Richard) Sawler; Marie (Art) Slaunwhite; brother,
Charles Hartlen; brother-in-law, Vince Sinyerd.
Arrangements have been
entrusted to Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro
where the family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday, April 25,
2022 and from where a funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday,
April 26, 2022, Reverend Michael Fredericks
officiating. Live webcast of the funeral service
will be available at 10:55 am, Tuesday, April 26, 2022, and will
remain on this website for some time. Private family
burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu
of flowers, donations to Canadian Liver Foundation –
Atlantic Canada Chapter are welcomed. Private messages of
