Veronica Jewel
Henderson - 38, of Pleasant Valley, Brookfield, passed away peacefully
on Sunday, May 8th, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family,
after a courageous four year battle with brain cancer. Born in
Springhill, she was a daughter of Alex Crowley (Ruthann Brookins) and
the late Kathleen (Stewart) Crowley of Streets Ridge.
After graduating from
Mount Allison University with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, Veronica
worked as a Tax Auditor for Revenue Canada. When not at work, Veronica
loved to listen to Country music - especially live concerts (hence a
honeymoon in Nashville). She had an art for knowing all the words to
every country song known to man and enjoyed singing along. She could
often be found in her greenhouse, vegetable garden or flower beds. Her
green thumb led her to becoming a member of the Brookfield Garden
Club. Over the years, Veronica had a passion for drawing, quilting and
anything crafty. She was always up for a challenge and excelled in
anything she put her mind to.
Veronica was very
family oriented and loved to spend time with her immediate and
extended families either at home in Brookfield, in River John or on
Big Lake. Outnumbered by an all boy household, Veronica appreciated a
feminine touch on life, such as requesting a pink birthday cake with
purple icing or a girls only trip to the spa. She was a very patient,
kind, selfless individual who had a great sense of humour and an act
for cherishing life's simple pleasures.
Veronica is survived
by her devoted husband of eleven years, Matthew; sons, Luke, Scott and
Josh; brother, Marshal (Heidi); sister, Theresa; grandmothers, Marion
Crowley and Maxine Stewart; and lots of well-loved extended family.
She was predeceased by her mother, Kathleen (Stewart) Crowley, and her
grandfathers, Percy Crowley and Laurie
Stewart.
Arrangements have been
entrusted to Mattatall - Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro
where the family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, May 12,
2022. Graveside service will be held 2 pm on Friday, May 13th, 2022,
in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Reverend Mark Kingsbury officiating. If
so desired, donations to Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada are
welcomed. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by
