E. Dale Treen – 85, of Upper Onslow passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, with her daughter by her side. Born in Malagash, she was a daughter of the late William and Violet (Moore) MacLean.

Dale was an avid card player, in her words there is no love or family in cards, and you had to be careful when she taught you a card game, she may have "forgotten" to share a rule or two. Always one to be up for an adventure with her family and a great sense of humour she was always full of shenanigans. She never missed one of her kids and later grandkids sporting events, she loved to be there cheering them on. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, she would drop everything if one of them called her. Bluegrass music and evenings around a campground with friends and family were one of her favourite pastimes for many years.

Dale is survived by her daughter, Kim (Kevin) Archibald; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Marissa; daughter in-law, Lesley Ekstrand; brother, Ken (Sharon) MacLean; sister, Mae (Frank) Shelly; sisters-in-law, Verna Maclean and Jean Maclean. There are many nieces, nephews and friends who were dear to Dale. She had many friends of her children who have referred to her as "mom" over the years and she loved them like her own.

She was predeceased by her husband, Oland (Ollie) Treen; son, Micheal "Rusty" Shirley, sisters, Jean Erasmus, Anne MacLean; brothers, Jim MacLean, and William "Billie" MacLean, brother-in-law, Arnie Erasmus.

Special thanks to the staff at the Colchester East Hants Hospital for their care of Dale, the kindness, compassion and respect shown to mom was noticed and very appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall - Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro where the family will receive friends from 2-4 pm on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 and funeral service to follow at 7 pm April Hart officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations to KidSport Nova Scotia are welcomed, so every child can play. Family flowers only. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Dale’s obituary on-line and selecting "Send A Condolence" at www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
