Doris Marie Leamont – 96, Truro, passed away peacefully, with her loving daughters at her side, on Sunday morning, July 10, 2022, at The Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro. Born in Moose River Gold Mines, Halifax County, she was a daughter of the late Neil and Naomi (Myers) Redden.

In earlier years, Doris worked at Stanfield’s and Federal Textiles as a seamstress. She loved to bowl and bowled with Truro Ladies League for 25 years and then with Seniors League until age 90. She enjoyed a quiet life and cherished her family dearly. Family meant everything to her and she was a dedicated Momma and Nana. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Pat (Jim) Lamont, Sandra (Henry) McInnis, Katherine (John) Guinan, all of Truro; grandchildren, Heather (Bryden) Grant, Truro; Lisa McInnis, Bass River; Trevor (Misti) Lamont, Truro; Mark McInnis, Halifax; Christopher Guinan, Truro; Jillian Guinan, Truro; great grandchildren, Ronan Wright, Lachlan Lamont, Helena Lamont, Morgan McInnis; several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Walter Jacob Leamont; siblings, Lottie (Gerald) Osbourne, Thelma (George) Clark, Rita (Esson) Fraser, Evelyn (Art) Irving, Matthew (Alice) Redden, Louise (Carl) Stephens, Avis (Charles) Van Buskirk.

Special thanks are extended to the staff at The Mira for their exceptional care of our mother during her four years there.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Doris’ family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Monday, July 25, 2022. Words of remembrance, led by son-in-law, John Guinan, will be offered at 5 pm; others are invited to share at this time as well. Interment will follow at 7 p.m., at Harmony Cemetery, Harmony Ridge Road, Harmony.
