Rae Hazel Labour – 77, Brookside, Colchester County, passed away peacefully, with her daughter at her side, on Saturday morning, August 27, 2022, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Hazel (MacLeod) Hansen.

Rae worked with Iron Ore Company of Canada from 1977 – 2002 and was a member of the Steel Workers Union. In her late 50s, she obtained her OHS Certificate and worked for six years as a Certified Safety Officer and was part of the accident investigation team.

Family was everything to Rae; she and her husband, Tom, always worked together and were always there for friends and family. They loved the home and life they built together in Labrador. She had lots of friends and was well loved. She was a "gadget geek" and always had the latest electronics and loved to learn new things. She cherished the trip that she and Sherri took to Hawaii and also enjoyed reading and loved anything chocolate!

Rae is survived by her loving husband, Thomas; daughter, Sherri Labour, Vancouver Island, British Columbia; brother, Mike (Prue) Hansen, Salmon River, Colchester County; many loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Edwin Thomas Labour.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Rae’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Interment will be held at a later date. Flowers have been arranged by the family. If so desired, donations in Rae’s memory to Intensive Care Unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre are welcomed.
