Daniel Crowtz - 80, of Valley, died September 24, 2022 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre after a brief hospitalization. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Daniel and Bertha (Bray) Crowtz.

Dan spent his formative years in Island East River, Pictou County. He started work with the Pictou County Power Board in 1960 as an apprentice lineman. After three years he transfered over to the Nova Scotia Power Corporation, with which he was employed for over 30 years. He retired in 1993. 
 
Dan was an avid outdoorsman and volunteer. He was a proud member of the Valley-Kemptown & District Fire Brigade. He enjoyed visiting his family in Pictou and Guysborough Counties, and spending time with his in-laws on Prince Edward Island.

Dan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Laverne (nee David); three sons, Jason, Michael, and Timothy; two grandsons, Fielding and Miles; one sister, Helen (Bill) Logan; and three brothers, Berton (Dianna) MacLaughlin, Gerald (Paulette) MacLaughlin, and Elmer MacLaughlin.  Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Bernice (Phil) Dunbar, his brother, Rollie MacLaughlin, and his nephew, Mathew MacLaughlin.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro where visitation will be held  2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022.  Funeral Mass will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Truro, with interment to follow at 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church Parish Cemetery in New Glasgow with reception to follow in the church hall. If so desired, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or Immaculate Conception Parish.
