Lorne Murray Crozier - 72, Bible Hill, passed away
peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, October 10,
2022, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in
Paris, Ontario, he was a son of the late Robert and Jennie (Thompson)
Crozier.
Lorne always said that Lynne was the love of his life, and
their family spent amazing summers and idyllic Christmases on the
family farm just outside Paris, Ontario, where loved ones would
gather. He was proud of his parent’s dairy farm. He taught
his family the love of nature and nothing made him happier than being
with his family, camping, canoeing or on nature walks at Kejimkujik
National Park, so long as the five of them were
together.
He received his M.Sc. Entomology from MacDonald College of
McGill University. He was an Honourary Life Member of N.S. Beekeepers
Association, and a member of the Institute of Agrologists, from which
he received the 2010 Distinguished Life Member Award. He worked for 35
years with the Department of Agriculture as Provincial Apiculturist,
Provincial Entomologist, Small Fruits & Berry Crop Specialist,
Minor Use Coordinator and Resource Management
Specialist.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Over the
years, Lorne sat on every board at the former First Baptist Church,
sang in the choir there and later served as a deacon and a choir
member at Immanuel Baptist church. As the provincial entomologist,
Lorne made presentations to school children and shared his enthusiasm
for all God’s creatures. He gave of his time to support the
Scouting movement as a Cub and Scout leader.
Lorne is survived by his wife, Lynne (Murphy); son, Stephen
(Brenda) Crozier, Nine Mile River; daughter, Tiffany (Steven) Cooke,
Valley; daughter, Heather Crozier, Bible Hill; grandchildren, Andrew
Crozier, William Crozier, Julia Cooke, whom he adored; brothers,
Charles Crozier, Hamilton, Ontario; Dale Crozier, Paris, Ontario;
several nieces and nephews. Lorne and his best friend, Robin Connor,
met while going to university and have kept in touch and remained
friends for all of these years.
All are welcome to attend a graveside interment service that
will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Bible Hill
Cemetery, 41 Warren Drive, Bible Hill, Reverend Michael Fredericks
officiating. If so desired, donations in Lorne’s
memory to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Colchester SPCA or
Immanuel Baptist Church are welcomed.
