Murleen Elizabeth
Dixon – 84, Bible
Hill, passed away unexpectedly, as a result of natural causes, on
Saturday evening, November 19, 2022, at home. Born in Digby, she was a
daughter of the late Wallace and Doris (Stevenson)
Bailey.
Murleen loved horse racing and shopping! She was a member of
Cobequid Road United Baptist Church, where she was baptized and
married. One of her first jobs was at Metropolitan, and that is where
she met her late husband, Eddie. She then went on to work at Halifax
Nurses Residence, Oland’s Brewery, HH Marshalls, VG Hospital
and when she moved to Bible Hill, worked at Williams Country Home,
Meadowland Villa and Sandi’s Home for Seniors. She was a
member of NSGEU.
Murleen is survived by her children, Beverley (Brian) David,
Hammonds Plains; Edward "Buttons" Dixon (Glenda States),
Windsor; Renée Dixon, Bible Hill; Shawn Dixon, Bible Hill;
Terrie Lynn Dixon (Tony Cidadao), Dartmouth; Shelley Tysiakiawacz,
Edmonton, Alberta; siblings, Michael (Darlene) Bailey, Bridgetown;
David Bailey (Kim), Saint John, New Brunswick; Shirley (Rejean)
DeGuise, Vancouver, British Columbia; sisters-in-law, Myra Bailey,
Clayton Park; Shelley Bailey, Enfield; Rose Emmerson, Halifax; Donna
Bailey; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and
nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Edward John "Eddie" Dixon; siblings, Charles Bailey, Allen
Bailey, Pearl (Alston) Williams, Caroline Stevenson, Clinton
Bailey.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service
will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, December 1, 2022, Reverend Dr. Joyce
Ross officiating. Interment in Oakridge Memorial Gardens, 1078 Old
Sackville Road, Middle Sackville. If so desired, donations in
Murleen’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and
Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia are welcomed. Private messages of
