June Avis Smith – 86, Truro, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Wednesday afternoon, November 23, 2022, at The Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro. Born in Greenfield, Colchester County, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Rosalie (MacKenzie) Patton.

June loved the Lord and it was her joy to serve Him as a loving wife and mother. Being a Registered Nurse was a dream fulfilled for June and her love and concern for others continued throughout her life. Playing the piano and organ, and singing, were a great pleasure that she willingly shared with others and learning to play the violin in later life was a challenge she took on with gusto.

June is survived by her children, Heather Smith, Wolfville; Marcia Smith (Ken Chisholm), Hantsport; brothers, Morris Patton, Truro; Everil (Margaret) Patton, Bible Hill; four grandchildren; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Alvin Simeon "Bud" Smith; daughter, Margaret Ann Smith; brother, Russell (Marjorie) Patton.

June’s family would like to thank the staff of The Mira for the friendship, love and care they have provided June over the past four and a half years! You have not gone unnoticed!

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, November 26, 2022, Reverend Kaj Binderup officiating. Spring interment in Crossroads Cemetery, 110 Salmon River Road, Valley. If so desired, donations in June’s memory to Back to the Bible Canada, Our Daily Bread Ministries Canada or Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada are welcomed.
