Stewart Charles Hoare – 86, Valley, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, January 30, 2023, at Willow Lodge Home for Special Care, Tatamagouche. Born in East Mountain, he was a son of the late Willie and Ruby (Bartlett) Hoare.

Stewart worked at Nova Scotia Agricultural College in the maintenance department for the barns and grounds for 35 years and was affiliated with Valley – Greenfield United Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, being in the woods and playing horseshoes. He and Geraldine spent 24 winters in Florida and loved camping at Hidden Hilltop Campground where Geraldine still camps.

Stewart is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Geraldine (Corbett); children, Darlene (Calven) Shipley, Hilden; Linda Pulsifer, Truro; Darrell Hoare, Stewiacke; Jeff Hoare, Bible Hill; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; sisters-in-law, Joan Hoare, Truro; Velma Hoare, East Mountain; many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Wanda in infancy; brothers, Carl Hoare, Arnold (Doreen) Hoare, Albert Hoare.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Stewart’s family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2023. Interment at a later date in Crossroads Cemetery, 110 Salmon River Road, Valley. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Stewart’s memory to a charity of choice are welcomed.
