Robert Starr Dennahower - It is with immense sadness that Starr’s family announce his passing on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre at the age of 74. Born in Truro, he was predeceased by his parents, Beatrice Dennahower (Lane) and John Dennahower.

Starr is survived by his wife, Gail; son, Nick (Erica Lowthers); daughter, Samantha (Jon Assels); precious granddaughter, Alexandra Starr; brother, Jack (Connie); three nephews, Liam, Karl, Stewart; and many cousins. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Karen McIntyre (John); and brother-in-law, Greg Fowlie (Catherine).

Starr lived life with tenacity, possessing a quick wit and seeing the glass half full. He didn’t let his paraplegia hold him back from living a full life. A very intelligent man, Starr liked to discuss politics and current events. He was an avid weightlifter and enjoyed snooker with Brad Meech. He took great pride in mowing the lawn and keeping the weeds at bay.

Many thanks to all the VON nurses over the past 30 years who took care of Starr and enriched his quality of life. Special thanks to present-day nurses, Heather Lynds, Jenny Lynch, Sandra Campbell, Tammy Bonnell, and Vicki Doyle.

Honouring Starr’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral. If so desired,  donations to Colchester SPCA in Starr’s memory are welcomed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of condolences may be sent to the family by viewing Starr's obituary on-line and selecting "Send A Condolence" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
