Philip W. "Phil" Johnson – 62, Hilden, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Kenneth Johnson and the late Joyce (Hutchison) Manley.

Phil was a generous man, giving of his time and anything he could to help others. He was a hard worker spending many years trucking, even owning his own independent truck business hauling fuel, which he loved to do. He also had a passion for working in his garage on vehicles. Later in life, he turned that hobby into a career to help his family and friends with their mechanical needs, so those he cared for would be able to afford to repair their vehicles.

He loved music, and whether he was inside or out, he always had the radio on listening to music. He also loved his Keiths, a good laugh and was always the life of a party, wanting everyone to have a good time and laugh along with him.

Phil will be greatly missed by his loved ones and loyal friends, his brother, whom he adored, Derek Johnson (Tina Brown); nieces, Shonalee Johnson, Kiley White; daughter, Virginia Blondon (Kim Vokey); loving stepmom, Iris Johnson; long-time companion, and at the end caregiver, Sherry Belanger; stepchildren, Krista Mont (Bill Higgins), Kim Fowler (Jason), David Mont (Alexandria MacBurnie); grandchildren, Kayla Pearston, Wyatt Pearston, Nick Stevens, Emily Stevens (his LiL Em), William Higgins, James Higgins, Gage Fowler, Christine Cullaton; great grandchildren, Alexander, Jack, Christian, Oliver, Chase.

As per Phil’s wishes, there will be a private interment at a later date with his closest family and friends who were there until the end. If so desired, donation in Phil’s memory to a charity of choice are welcomed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Phil’s obituary on-line and selecting "Send A Condolence" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
