Bessie Jean
Thibodeau – 79, Truro.
Our hearts are broken as we have to announce that our mother, Bessie
Jean Thibodeau, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023, surrounded by
so much love.
In our mother’s early years, she worked at Nelsons
Dry Cleaning in Truro and she then became a stay-at-home mom. She was
the most amazing seamstress, who could sew anything from a wedding
dress to a prom gown, to repairs or making pajamas every year for the
ones she loved.
Bessie is survived by her daughters, Irma Johnson, and grand
fur babies, Thor, Annie, Gracie and Kim (Craig) MacNearney, and her
four grandchildren, whom she loved so dearly, Gilgamesh, Berendon,
Aluna, Darien and grand fur babies, Slimer and Pumpkin. As well,
Bessie is survived by her siblings and many nieces and nephews, who
will miss her dearly. Bessie was predeceased by her husband, Daly
Thibodeau, who was the love of her life and their beloved fur baby,
Kiwi.
A sincere and most special thank you goes out to the
Palliative Care Unit at Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow. You are the
unsung heroes, and for the kindness, respect, and compassion you not
only showed for our mother, but to us as well, we are forever
grateful.
Thank you to Rose-Marie Theriault who helped us navigate
through our mother’s transition and passing. A special thank
you to Benny Dobson, who unselfishly drove Irma back and forth from
Truro to the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow every day, to Janet and
Penny for daily coffee deliveries and a special thanks to Eileen
McNutt, who sat with us, gave us support, shared pictures, stories,
laughter and tears. To everyone who stopped by to visit with mom or
called mom before her passing, we thank you. And yes, she knew you
were there.
