With great sadness, the family of Matthew Richard Allan Heim announce his sudden passing, on Monday, May 1, 2023 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 35.
Matthew will be forever remembered by his father, Allan Heim (Jackie); mother, Tammy Janes (Chris); brother and sisters, Daniel Heim (Amelia), Nicole Jollimore (Ben), Erika Heim; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be deeply missed by his children, Noah Dent-Myers, Elijah Heim, and Marcy Young; step-children, Jake, Jasmine, Jordan, and Jonah Budgell.
Matthew was born in Oshawa, Ontario. He was a "professional" MMA fighter, Monster energy connoisseur, and a self-proclaimed master of his craft. Matthew was known for his unorthodox fighting style, which consisted mostly of flailing his arms wildly and hoping for the best. But despite his unpolished technique, he always had a heart of a champion and the ego of a true fighter. Out of the ring, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also loved to brag about his victories in the ring and explain how he would have won, if it wasn't for that one sucker punch.
Matthew was always seeking new adventures and experiences and had a contagious energy and zest for life that touched the hearts of everyone he met. Matthew’s passing leaves a deep void in the lives of all who knew him. His warmth, humor, and kindness will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall - Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2023, and a celebration of Matthew’s life at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2023, where family and friends can gather to remember the joy and love that he brought to the world. Webcasting will be available starting at 7:25 p.m. and will remain on the website for viewing. A private family burial will take place at a later date. If so desired, donations in memory of Matthew to Flar Equine Experience, Hubley are welcomed.
