Alvis Archie McLellan – 65, of Lower Debert passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, June 8, 2023 with family by his side. Born in East Noel, he was a son of the late Delbert and Hazel McLellan.

Archie is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Patricia "Patti" and son, Brandon. He is also survived by a special daughter-in-law, who he called his adopted daughter, Kaley Hillaby. Archie leaves behind his fur daughter, Tia; his two cats, Krissie and Sienna; along with fur grandbaby Bosley. Archie is also survived by loving sisters, Erma White, Joy (Charlie) White and Pam (Randy) Starratt; brother, Terry (Val), Lethbridge, Alberta. Archie leaves behind a mother-in-law, who called him another son and he called her his other mama, Doreen Putnam; brother-in-law, Donald Putnam; many nieces and nephews along with many great nieces and great nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Avis Colpitts; brothers, Wilfred and Leroy; brother-in-law, Willis White; father-in-law, Glenn Putnam; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Archie held many different occupations over the years but the ones he was most proud of were running yard horses in the woods, working for the saw mill and running the warehouse for Berry’s Furniture. When injury took him from the workforce, he became a stay at home dad to raise son, Brandon. There was always something to do in his mind and he couldn’t sit still. Archie was well known for his gardens and keeping the neighbourhood well stocked on vegetables over the summers.

The family moved to the hobby farm where he enjoyed spending time with the goats and working around the yard. When the weather was nice there was no stopping him with that scooter, he was out in the yard. Family was everything to Archie and he never let anyone forget that. No matter what though, nobody interrupted his game shows. The thing everyone loved most was Archie’s big heart and talent to cook, nobody left his table hungry. Archie will be deeply missed and loved by all who knew him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. A graveside service will be held 1 pm Thursday, June 15, 2023, in Riverside Church Cemetery, Bass River, Reverend Valerie Kingbury officiating.

If so desired, donations in Archie’s memory to Colchester East Hants Health Centre Foundation or Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade are welcomed. Messages of condolence may be shared with the family by viewing Archie’s obituary on-line and selecting "Send A Condolence" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
