With great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Michael Denson MacGillivary at the age of 53, of heart failure, in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

Michael was a son of Harry and Diane (Otterson) MacGillivary. Along with his parents, Michael is survived by his best friend and brother, Mark; nephew, Jacob; son, Nick, daughter, Dianne and granddaughter, Olivia; aunts, Evelyn, Shirley and Sharon; uncle, Jimmy and also uncle, Eric (Wilda) Otterson; many, many cousins and friends.

Michael was born in Truro where he grew up and later moved to Edmonton, Alberta for many years before moving back home. No matter where he was Michael always found the good in everyone and if you were lucky enough to have met him you instantly knew you just made a new friend.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the ambulance services and the doctors and nurses at Colchester East Hants Health Center.

A graveside service will be held 2 pm on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Bible Hill Cemetery, Reverend April Hart officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
