Vaughan Kencil Webb – 84, Sutherlands Lake, passed
away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre, Truro. Born in North Greenville, Cumberland County, to the
late Earle and Margaret (Moore) Webb, Vaughan spent most of his young
life in Westchester where he went to school and worked before moving
to Truro to find work. His work included Carpentry, IGA, Margolians,
Prudential Life Insurance, Blue Cross and Sears before taking the
plunge to go into business for himself as a farmer, and later owning
and operating Glenholme Antiques with his wife Glenda which they
operated together until retiring at Sutherlands Lake.
Vaughan and Glenda were a true "team" in their
lives and their motto was "everything
together". They loved hosting Happy Hours at the Lake
and family dinners and all kinds of theme parties and music jams over
the years. They enjoyed traveling to places such as Poland, Mexico,
California, British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and their many trips to
Florida most winters. They also spent a lot of time on PEI where they
both played in a Bluegrass Band called SK Bluegrass in which Vaughan
played the mandolin.
Vaughan especially loved baseball and played on several teams
during his life and was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of
Fame as a member of the 1973 Truro Bearcats Provincial Championship
Team.
Vaughan enjoyed working outdoors and had a great love of
working in the woods. He was known for his wood piling skills and
often heard saying "a place for every stick and every stick in
its place". In his later years he enjoyed growing hostas and
other different trees and trimming Christmas Trees to
sell.
