Wilfred Ervin "Wilf" Carter - 88, Liverpool, passed
away on Thursday, November 2, 2023 in Shannex Vimy Court, Bible Hill.
Born in Oxford, he was the youngest child of the late William and
Mabel (Rushton) Carter.
Wilf sadly lost his dearly loved partner, Betty (Fraser) in
May 2023 after 59 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his
siblings and their spouses: Carrie (Ira) Betts, Jean (Norman)
McFadden, Ella (Todd) Wilmot, Frank (Anna) Carter, Harold Carter. He
is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Wilf began his work life as a typesetter at the Oxford
Journal and later worked for newspapers in Ontario and Liverpool. Wilf
always enjoyed driving and detailing his vehicles, so it was fitting
that he was last employed, for many years, as a chauffeur at
Bowater Mersey in Liverpool. He drove company officials and business
associates to and from Halifax Stanfield Airport, local hotels, and
meetings. In this capacity he spent many hours over the years getting
to know many of the airport staff.
Wilf will be laid to rest beside his "dear Bet" in
Oxford.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall - Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Public messages of condolence
