Lillian Annie Murphy – 93, formerly of Debert passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Hector and Jessie (Totten) Hinchcliffe.

Lillian was employed at Barnhill General Store for 35 years. She was loved by all who knew her. She was a great mother and had the patience of Jobe. She had a memory like no other and was a character! Lillian spent her whole life in Debert until one day, when she was 48 years old; she decided to take a trip. So, she got a passport and ticket and flew to Germany (by herself) to visit family. She loved to play cards and bingo, they were her passion.

Lillian is survived by her daughters, Linda Eagles (Kelly), Nancy Morphet (Dwayne), Jessie, Cornelius (Ken), Sandra Catching; sons, Peter (Shelley), John Michael (Jan), Paul (Wendy); 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, John; daughter, Margie; sister, Effie; brothers, Alden, Frank and George; infant granddaughter, Jill.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where a Celebration of Lillian’s Life will held 1-3 pm, Wednesday, November 29, 2023. A private family interment will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations to Plains Road Cemetery are welcomed. Public messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Lillian’s obituary on-line and selecting "Send A Condolence" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
