Madeline Mary Stone – 74, Central Onslow, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, November 21, 2023, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Tatamagouche, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Bertha (MacEachern) Tattrie.

Madeline was proud that she graduated from St. Mary’s University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts (summa cum laude) in Atlantic Canada studies all while raising her family and running a business. She always knew what hard work was as she grew up on a cattle farm in Bayhead and was involved with 4H. An avid outdoorswoman, she loved swimming, boating, mountain biking and cross country skiing. She was a devoted hockey Mom.

Madeline is survived by her sons, David Stone, Greenfield; Jeffery Stone, Glace Bay; grandchildren, Matthew Levangie, Truro; Nicholas Levangie, Antigonish; Lauren Levangie, Truro; siblings, Ron (Gladys) Tattrie, Bayhead; John Tattrie, Bayhead; sister-in-law, Rose Morewood, Halifax; brother-in-law, Aubrey Coulter, Toronto; nieces, Carrie, Krista, Karen; nephews, Scott, Steven. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Stone; nephew, Andrew Morewood.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors in the ICU for their exceptional care.

Private interment will be held at Bayhead (Union Church) Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Madeline’s memory to Diabetes Canada or Heart and Stroke Foundation are welcomed.
