Garnet Earle Hume – 53, Truro, formerly of Chester. It is with very heavy hearts that we, the family of Garnet Earle Hume, announce his passing on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Lunenburg, he was the son of the late Earle and Jean (Muir) Hume.

Garnet is survived by his life partner and soulmate, Menniea "Nina" MacDonald, Truro and his fur babies. He leaves behind the true apples of his eyes, his son, Brandon (Annalee) and granddaughter, Ruby, and his daughter, Keyona and grandchildren, Grayson and Rio, all of whom he loved all very much! Garnet is also survived by his sisters, Kelly (Bob), Shelley (Tommy), Angela (Jeffrey), Vicki; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; lifelong friends, Tracy and Sean and many others friends. He was "G" and "Uncle G" to many of his Truro family and adopted nieces and nephews.

Garnet was an avid sports lover of darts, baseball, football and hockey; he was a diehard Montreal Canadiens fan! He would talk sports to anyone anytime, but he bonded most with his son over their share love of sports. He found a passion in darts and played in leagues and tournaments throughout the province.

Garnet and Nina loved to go for drives to Chester, beaches and many scenic points across the beautiful province of Nova Scotia that he cared for so much. He drove Taxi in Truro (Layton’s and G&D) for many years and had many loyal customers over those years and was very well liked by all who knew him!! Garnet also worked at Atlantic Superstore and Clearwater for a number of years and met lots of friends and had many great memories.

Memorial and donation fundraiser to be held from 2-7 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Truro Horsemen’s Club, 288 Main Street, Bible Hill. Please dress in your best hockey/sports jerseys.
