Lyman Reginald "Reg" Austin – 92, Truro, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Lyman and Catherine (Myers) Austin.
Reg is survived by his wife, Carol (Stubbert); daughter, Sharon (Rob) Vance, Fredericton, New Brunswick; son, Chris (Michele) Austin, Eliot, Maine; six special grandchildren, David (Chrissy) Vance, Kate (Dan) Shaver, Ashleigh (Matt Pendleton) Austin, Hannah Austin, Lauryn (Byron Johnson) Austin, Molly Austin; seven great grandchildren, Jesse Vance, Janna Vance, Robyn Vance, Asher Vance, Calla Vance, Jack Shaver, Natalie Shaver; many nieces and nephews of whom he was very fond. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Harold Austin; sister, Marion (Ted) Ayer.
Reg was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, volunteered on a number of Boards and sang in the choir. Dear to his heart was the men’s group and the monthly breakfast group meeting at Smitty’s.
Most of his working career was in the retail sector, mainly working with Cooperatives. Reg enjoyed many outdoor activities including golf, hunting and fishing. He loved sailing during the summers spent at the cottage in Pugwash. He was unbeatable at the game of cribbage and had an endless supply of jokes (Reader’s Digest). He enjoyed his years and many fond memories of friendships made while in Myrtle Beach.
He was a wonderful father and beloved Papa to his grandchildren. He was devoted to the Lord, setting a fine example for us, and prayed faithfully for many, many people.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, January 12, 2024, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 295 Young Street, Truro, Pastor Michael Fredericks officiating. Reception will follow in Robertson Hall. Interment in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill at a later date. If so desired, donations in Reg’s memory to Immanuel Baptist Church, The Arthritis Society or charity of choice are welcomed.
