Lucille Audrey (Joudrey) Goswell – 86, Bible Hill, formerly of Beaver Bank, Halifax County, passed away suddenly and peacefully at home, as a result of natural causes, on Monday, January 29, 2024. Born in Blockhouse, she was a daughter of the late Elvin and Leila (Ernst) Joudrey.

Lucille worked at Department of National Defense in Halifax for many years from where she retired. She loved all animals and birds, and fed the birds every day from the many bird feeders in her backyard; she got great pleasure watching the birds and squirrels fighting over the food. She also loved to travel, and her greatest adventure was to Australia where she got up close to the koalas and kangaroos.

She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Lucille is survived by her sons, David (Debbie) Goswell, Valley; Jeffrey Goswell (Randy MacMillan), East Village; grandchildren, Michelle (Mark) Webb, Debert; Shaun (Young) Goswell, St. Catharine’s, Ontario; Joel (Olivia) Goswell, Belmont; great grandchildren, Willow Goswell, Maeve Goswell; sisters, Jean Conrad, Chester; Marie Whittaker, Nanaimo, British Columbia; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Fred Joudrey.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Lucille’s family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2024, and funeral service 11 a.m., Thursday, February 1, 2024, The Reverend Lori Ramsey officiating. Interment to follow in Garden of Rest Cemetery, Blockhouse. If so desired, donations in Lucille’s memory to any animal shelter are welcomed; she contributed to many charities, especially those that care for animals.
