Floyd Dexter Tattrie – 95, Bible Hill, formerly of North River, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax. Born in Upper North River, he was a son of the late Victor and Viola (Tattrie) Tattrie.

Floyd was a very skilled finishing carpenter and worked in carpentry all of his life, building homes and kitchen cabinets along with other projects. He enjoyed bowling on various leagues over the years and loved dancing and singing. He and Marguerite hosted many card parties at their home with family and friends over the years, and those get-togethers were always filled with laughs and food. Right up until he got sick, he planted a vegetable garden each year, a place where he found solitude working in the soil and harvesting the rewards of his labours.

Floyd is survived by his sons, Stephen Tattrie (Deb Charteris), Ponoka, Alberta; Terry (Judy) Tattrie, Bedford; Garry Tattrie, Ponoka, Alberta; Robert Tattrie, Bedford; step-son, Kenny (Gail) Murray, North River; grandchildren, Jason (Mary), Halifax; Dexter, Lacombe, Alberta; Candace, Halifax; Jessica (Don), Red Deer, Alberta; Jamie (Aleece), Upper Sackville; Sarah (Max), Red Deer, Alberta; great grandchildren, Alivia, Warren, Thomas, Skye; step grandchildren, Laura, Jennifer, Renee, Shawna, Brad, Aric, Ally, Ben; several step great grandchildren; siblings, Esther MacFarlane, Truro; Elroy (Pat) Tattrie, Onslow; Sterling (Vera) Tattrie, South Branch; many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Lola Irene (Mason); second wife, Marguerite Laura (Blair); siblings, Doreen (Harry) Gorman, Marguerite Green, Murray (Elsie) Tattrie.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Floyd’s family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2024, and funeral service 1 p.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024, Reverend April Hart officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Blackmore Memorial Cemetery, Upper North River.
