Darlene Eleanor Chown - 76, Truro. It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Darlene Eleanor Chown passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by loved ones.

Darlene was the heart of her family and was always at her happiest when her home was filled with those she loved. She was a homemaker, a caregiver, a collector of beautiful things, and had the heart to help anyone she could. 

Darlene spent many years not only being a caregiver to her own children and seniors in care homes, but she was also a caregiver, a life counselor and a safe haven for many of us who had nowhere to go. Her home was always open, and the tea kettle was always on. 

Darlene also loved music. She could always be found singing a tune, or when her husband Doug pulled out the guitar, you could be sure to hear her singing along while he was playing. 

Darlene is survived by her children, Timmy (Heidi) Truro; Monica, Truro; daughter by heart and so much love, Julie; sisters, Betty, Evelyn, Beatrice; brother, Archie; grandchildren, Vincent (Sam), Lacey, Justin, Carrie (Jesse), Brianna; great grandchildren, Kyle, Serenity, Caili, Khloe, Thomas, Logan, Michael, Mallory, Corey, Cohen, Zachariah, Jeremy, Amber, Lily, Noah.

Darlene was predeceased by her husband, Doug; mother, Albertha French; grandchildren, Amanda, Taylor, Dillan.

Private interment at a later date in Belmont Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Darlene’s memory to a charity of choice are welcomed.
