Mary Bethina "Beth" Pearo – 89, Truro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2024. Born in St. Peter’s, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Beatrice (Morrison) Pearo.

Beth enjoyed various career paths during her lifetime that included working at Morrison’s General Store in St Peter’s, Cape Breton, Forest Biology Lab in Masstown, and Dalhousie University Biology Department. Her teaching career of 28 years began in Bella Bella, British Columbia, then to Willow Street School in Truro and finally at Cobequid Consolidated in Old Barns, from where she retired in 1992. She also enjoyed her many years of work as a Mary Kay consultant.

Beth obtained her Bachelor of Education from Acadia University in 1964, and Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary’s University in 1978. She enjoyed her work as cub leader at Immanuel Baptist Church and as an Akela leader at First United Church in Truro in the ‘50s’!

Much pleasure was found in her church work and activities with Retired Teachers Organization and her Red Hat group (Red Bloomers).
