Arthur Bertrand "Bert" Clissold – 99, Salmon River, passed away peacefully, with his daughter, Donna at his side, on Sunday morning, March 31, 2024, at Shannex Elk Court, Brookfield. Born in Brockville, Ontario, he was the son of the late Bertrand and Lily (Roach) Clissold.

Bert was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with RCAF as a wireless air gunner. (WAG) He was a member of John Calvin Christina Reformed Church, Truro and Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro. He enjoyed coin collecting and was also an avid gardener, having been a former member of Bible Hill Garden Club with his late wife, Jean. He and Jean met at a social dance in England and were married for 73 years until her passing in 2019.

Bert is survived by his daughter, Donna Blount (Don DeCoste), Greenfield; grandchildren, Josh (Taylor) Blount, Jodie Blount (Evan Thomas), Hayley Oldford, Nicole DeCoste, Brandon DeCoste; great grandchildren, Grayson Thomas, Braydee Thomas, Skylar DeCoste, Leeland DeCoste, Cruze DeCoste, Jimmy Roode; sister, Patricia (John) Wilson, Perth, Ontario; several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jean (Moore); sister, Gwen Meyer; nephews, Mark Hoag, David Hoag, John Hoag, Kenneth Meyer. Special thanks are extended to the staff of Elk Court for the care and compassion shown to Dad.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where a Legion Tribute Service will be held 12:30 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2024, followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2024, Pastor Ken Fillmore officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Bert’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society are welcomed.
