The family of the late Robert "Bob" Avery Brown, 69, of Beaver Brook would like to announce his passing on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, quietly at the Colchester Hospital after a brief illness.

Dad was predeceased by his mother, Shirley Olive Lutz (Hollingsworth) and his father, Avery Leo Brown. Dad leaves behind his younger brother, Rodger (Pam) Brown, Harmony; younger sisters, Karen Harvey, Harmony and Jane Brown, Truro; niece, Lindsey Yorke, Salmon River; nephews, Russell Brown, (Brett) Truro, Ryan Brown (Jenna), Gore, Michael Belanger (Melissa), Belmont. Dad also leaves behind a much loved daughter, Bobby-Joe Mattinson, Hopewell and his grandchildren, Shelby Parker, Carson Mattinson, Taylor Mattinson and Bryson Mattinson whom will all miss him.

Dad lived a full life consisting on anything outdoors. He hunted and made his own shells and arrows and he fished (deep sea and fly, tying his own flies). In his younger years, he trapped, went scuba diving and he flew his own ultralight plane he built with the help and patience of his brother. He loved growing and bragging about his garden and his six foot tall flowering plants when he retired.

Dad spent most of his employed life working at Crossley Carpets (Tandus) on Willow Street as a technical specialist. Those that knew him knew he had no filter and would let you know his thoughts whether you asked or not.  His favorite saying when I was little was......"beam me up Scotty, there's no intelligent life down here", which he proudly wore on a t-shirt. He stuck to this rhetoric most of his life. He spent his retired years helping his good buddy, Allan at his camp and his buddy, John in the woods. Dad also loved having chickens. So did the racoons he fed chicken too unwillingly every year.

I'm going to miss you dad. We have one road trip left.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro where the family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Monday, April 8, 2024. A private graveside service will take place at Camden Cemetery at a later date. If so desired, donations in Bob’s memory to a charity of choice are welcomed. Tributes, words of comfort and memories may be shared at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
