Agnes Madeline Cavanaugh – 85, North River, passed
away suddenly, as a result of heart complications, on Monday morning,
April 15, 2024, at home. Born in Windsor, she was a daughter of the
late James and Margaret (Bartlett) Purvis.
Agnes was a very hard worker all of her life; she worked at
Windsor Wear, Stanfield’s, Co-Op and then did private
housecleaning. She enjoyed making crafts, knitting, cross stitch,
enjoyed doing puzzles and reading, her favourite author being Nora
Roberts (J.D. Robb). At the age of 80, she was a breast cancer
survivor.
Agnes is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Dean
Cavanaugh; children, Peter (Anne) Purvis, South Branch; Patti Purvis,
Bible Hill; Deana Cavanaugh (Jeff Clements), Elmsdale; grandchildren,
Kathleen Corbett (Scott Walker), Berwick; Kristyn Corbett, New
Glasgow; siblings, Shirley Jewula, Halifax; Brenda
O’Connell, Truro; Audrey (John) Ross, Truro; brother-in-law,
Grant Mosher, Alberta; several nieces and nephews across
Canada.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings,
James "Sonny" Purvis, David (Linda) Purvis, Lawrence
(Audrey) Purvis, Margaret "Peggy" (Grant) Mosher, Jenny
(Bob) Martin, Anna in infancy; brothers-in-law, Joe Jewula, John
O’Connell.
Honouring Agnes’ wishes, a private interment will
be held at later date. If so desired, donations in Agnes’
memory to Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation are
welcomed.
