Hazel Christena (McNutt) McClelland - 97, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. She was born in North River, Colchester County, and was the last surviving member of the family of the late Albert and Ada (McNutt) McNutt.  She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Judson McClelland; sisters, Elsie Upham, Alice Matheson, Violet Gibson, Gladys Faulkner; brothers, Wilbert McNutt, Guy McNutt, Ralph McNutt, Arnold McNutt, Ira McNutt.

She is survived by her children, David (Margaret) McClelland and their children, Paul McClelland (Kerry) and Christine McClelland (Ayham); Paulette (Stephen) Yorke and their children, Erin Muise (Alexandre), Johanna Matthews (Michael), Matthew Yorke (Chera), Timothy Yorke (Danielle) and Brendan Yorke (Aaron); Ruth (Robert) Barnhill and their children, Karla O’Leary (Wade) and Mitchell Barnhill (Jayne); Rebecca (Raymond) Bartlett and their children, Mallory Bartlett and Keltie Bartlett; Mark (Charlotte) McClelland and their children, Mark McClelland, Adam McClelland, Jaclyn Marshall (Kyle) and Craig McClelland; great grandchildren, Meika, Mark, Rileigh, Callaghan, Hunter, Anna, Alivia, Winston, Charlie, William, Oona, Eva and Lachlan; sisters-in-law, Mabel McNutt and Betty Culgin; many cherished nieces and nephews.

Hazel was a member of First Baptist Church, Truro, and was a lifetime member of The June Allen WMS and Canadian Bible Society. She was also a loving partner in all of Paul’s many volunteer projects.  Hazel was first and foremost a caregiver, giving generously of her time, love and prayer to those who were fortunate to come into her circle. Her heart was broken with the loss of Paul, first to Alzheimer’s and then with his passing in 2012. She bravely honoured his memory every day.  In later years Hazel remained in her little home on Windsor Avenue with her happy memories. With the COVID-19 lockdown, she moved into Karlaine Place along with her sister-in-law and lifetime friend, Mabel. She was well cared for until her passing, surrounded by love. We are forever grateful.

She will not soon be forgotten as she joins Paul, whole once again, "Beyond the Sunset."

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Hazel’s family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 21, 2024, followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. Reception will follow. Interment will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2024 in Bible Hill Cemetery, 41 Warren Drive, Bible Hill. Family flowers only, please. If so desired, donations in Hazel’s memory to Bible Hill Cemetery or a charity of one’s choice are welcomed.
