Virginia Mae "Ginny" Roberts – 92,
Montrose, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on Wednesday,
April 17, 2024, at home. Born in Montrose, she was a daughter of the
late Sanford and Lenora (Dunham) Urquhart.
In earlier years, Virginia worked at Stanfield’s,
but raising her family was most important. She was the matriarch of
our family and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She belonged to TOPS and was active within her community, volunteering
with various groups and wherever there was a need, enjoyed cooking,
reading and watching Western books and movies, especially any with
John Wayne and Randolph Scott.
Virginia is survived by her children, Burton (Linda) Roberts,
Economy; Philip Roberts, Portaupique; Linda (Dean) Rushton, Highland
Village; Ross Roberts, Debert; Michael Roberts, Montrose; Frank
(Patty) Roberts, Highland Village; Paul (Carolyn) Roberts, Highland
Village; Roy Roberts, Highland Village; 19 grandchildren; 22 great
grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Cyril Collins Roberts; daughter, Grace Roberts; daughters-in-law, Anne
Roberts, Florence Roberts; grandson, Leslie Rushton; great
granddaughter, Bleu Roberts; siblings, Albert, Leida, Marion, Harold,
Russel, Graham, Robert, Alfred, Alice, William, Joyce.
Special thanks are extended to Bass River Fire Brigade for
your care, assistance and help over the years, along with VON, Susan
Dodsworth and Nurse Practitioner, Lynn Miller for your care and
compassion. Private interment will be held at a later date in
Portaupique Beach Cemetery. If so desired, donations in
Virginia’s memory to Portaupique Beach Cemetery are
welcomed.
