Audrey Marie (Coulter) Dewar, a beloved mother, sister, friend and aunt, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the age of 82, surrounded by her family, at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow.

Born in Truro, Audrey touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and infectious smile. Audrey lived in the Truro area for most of her life, except for a brief period living in the Halifax area, she lived on East Prince Street until marrying and moving to East Mountain. She worked for "the telephone company," a community in which she made countless meaningful, long-term friendships, in various positions for the entirety of her working career. Upon retirement she resided in Bible Hill and when she felt she needed a roommate and helping hand, she moved in with her niece, Heather Putnam, who lovingly cared for her until November 2022, when she took up residence at Glen Haven Manor in New Glasgow.

Her presence had a profound impact on her nieces' families, as she was always there with open arms and unwavering support. Audrey had a passion for reading, Scrabble, and bowling, finding joy in simple pleasures and cherished moments with her family.  Memories of her road trips through the years and her joyful presence at family gatherings will continue to be a special blessing. Audrey always had a kind word, kind energy, and a laugh to share with everyone she encountered. She will be remembered fondly for her compassionate spirit, unwavering optimism, and the love she shared with all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Audrey was predeceased by her mother, Josephine "Josie" Coulter; sister, Anne Coulter; brother-in-law, Don Hinds. She is survived by her two sons, Julian Dewar and Tyler Dewar, and their father, Bruce (Reina) Dewar; granddaughter, Saeran; sister, Beryl (Coulter) Hinds; nieces and caregivers, Jennifer Bakker and Heather Putnam; many other family members.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall - Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. As per Audrey’s wishes there will be no visitation or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven House, the Truro Housing Outreach Society.  The family would like to suggest you pay a visit to your local seniors’ home to say hello to the residents there. They may be happy to see your smiling face.

"Much love, Audrey.  Much love"
