It’s with
heavy hearts, we, the family of Frederick "Fred" David
Entwistle, 89, of Stewiacke announce his passing in the Colchester
East Hants Health Centre on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Born in Brantford,
Ontario in 1935, he was the only son of the late Wilfred Hampson
Entwistle (1903-1986) and Jean (Jane McGiffin Murray)
(1905-1984).
Besides his parents,
he was also predeceased by his only sister, Dorothy Jean (Entwistle)
Stutter (1933-2020) and brother-in-law Clifford Ernest Stutter
(1931-2018). Dad was the last surviving member of his immediate
family.
Dad was a member of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dad loved fishing,
spending time with family and friends, working with his hands and
singing in the choir. Dad was the owner of Full Line Enterprises in
Stewiacke, a millwright by trade, he could fix almost
anything.
Dad is survived our
mother, Margaret "Betty" Elizabeth (Lane) Entwistle,
Shortt’s Lake; and us, his children, Shelley Anne
(Entwistle) Wentzell, Bible Hill, Gordon David Entwistle,
Shortt’s Lake, Tammy Lane (Entwistle) Devlin, Pleasant
Valley and Frederick Andrew Entwistle, Stewiacke, whom he worked and
lived with. Dad was called Grampie by his grandchildren, Samantha
Elizabeth Nicole Wentzell, Bible Hill, R Samuel Devlin, Fort McMurray,
Alberta, Abigail Jett Devlin, Pleasant Valley; he is also survived by
his son-in-law, David John Devlin, Pleasant Valley; and Tammy Lynn
Milbury-Turner, Hilden, he affectionately called "Tammy2",
who also called him Dad. He is also survived by his three nieces and
their families, Jeannine (Stutter) Powell, Red Deer, Alberta, Rose
(Stutter) Kirk, and Valorie (Stutter) Logan, both of Victoria, British
Columbia. There are many others who called him Dad, Uncle, Grampie and
friend.
We, the family, wish
to thank the First Responders, the ER Doctors, Dr. David Henderson and
his team in the Palliative Care Unit at the Colchester East Hants
Health Centre, for the care shown to our father/Grampie. Gratitude and
appreciation go to the VON Home Care and Nurses, for your
compassionate and loving care while Dad/Grampie was at
home.
In keeping with
Dad’s wishes the family will hold a celebration of life 1 pm
on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, 148 Evergreen Drive, Salmon River. If so desired, a
donation in Fred’s memory can be made to the Colchester East
Hants VON or the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society.
