Freeman Edward Lynds – 75, Hilden, passed away
peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, August 17,
2024, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Bible
Hill, he was a son of the late Lockhart and Ruth (Crowe)
Lynds.
Freeman worked for Town of Truro for 29 years, driving the
Zamboni at Colchester Legion Stadium in the winter months and mowing
lawns around town during the good weather; he made many friends during
his working years. He loved to go fishing in Bass River with his
daughter, Maryanne, and also with his brother-in-law, Dave Fisher and
other friends at other special fishing holes. He also enjoyed going
for coffee at Tim Hortons.
Freeman is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carol
(MacBurnie); daughter, Maryanne Lynds, Truro; sisters, Dorothy Graham,
Central Onslow; Helen Weatherby (Charles Martin), Miramichi;
sister-in-law, Jean Lynds, Onslow Mountain; brother-in-law, Leander
Staples, Onslow Mountain; several nieces and nephews. Along with his
parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, William Lynds, Ann
Staples, Ellen (Arnold) Roode.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Freeman’s
family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2024,
and funeral service 3 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2024, Pastor Ron Ruse
officiating. Interment in Onslow Island Cemetery, Central Onslow. If
so desired, donations in Freeman’s memory to Canadian Cancer
