Pearl Gertrude Davis – 91, Truro, passed away peacefully with her son, William at her side, on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Newtown, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Lydia (Carr) Hawkes.

Pearl was an active member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Truro, and was a member of the Guild for over 50 years. She loved being outdoors in her gardens and enjoyed time spent at William’s cabin in Wentworth, especially sitting by the campfires. She liked to keep active with family and friends, volunteering, and hand writing letters to the many wonderful friends that she made in the various places that she and her family lived throughout the Maritimes. She loved eating fishcakes, but hated getting her hands dirty while making them, so she delegated the task of making them to her husband and son!

Pearl is survived by her children, Robert (Cynthia) Davis, Sydney; Carlee Pedersen, Bible Hill; Gale (Rico) Squizzato, Calgary, Alberta; William Davis, Truro; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Murray; son-in-law, Egon Pedersen; half-sister, Cora Hawkes; half-brother, Wilfred Hawkes.

Pearl was known as Mom to many others as well, and some of those include, Maria Suta and family, Nada Khoury and family, Howard Roode and Lester Howell.

Special thanks are extended to VON for their care and compassion which enabled Mom to remain in her own home.

Graveside service will be held at a later date in Newtown Baptist Cemetery, New Brunswick. If so desired, donations in Pearl’s memory to VON Colchester-East Hants, Newtown Baptist Cemetery or charity of choice are welcomed.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Tributes, words of comfort and memories may be shared at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
