Bernadette Marie Alain – 66, formerly of Bathurst, New Brunswick and a resident of Truro and surrounding area for over 40 years, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, after an 11 year journey of fighting cancer. (Multiple Myeloma).
Bernadette never let her diagnosis stop her from enjoying her life to the fullest. She was a selfless woman who always thought of others before herself, and always entered a room with her beautiful contagious smile that would brighten anyone’s day.
Her favourite things to do were watching and participating with the growth of her six grandchildren, very rarely missing any major events that they would be participating in. She was extremely involved in their lives and would drop anything to be supportive in their endeavours.
Bernadette liked to keep active herself and would always be seen walking throughout the community; she loved to play volleyball along with other various activities, including playing cards, specifically Bridge. She always had her thing with numbers as she worked for Statistics Canada for 30 plus years and received her education through Nova Scotia Agricultural College and finished her studies at University of Guelph in Ontario.
In her downtime, she loved to read and travel throughout the world where she was always able to share her experiences with her family and friends. She was loved by so many people and strived to keep bonds with friends.
Bernadette was the daughter of the Edgar and Marthe (Boudreau) Alain. She is survived by her children, Amy (Kyle) Gloade, Millbrook; Adam Elliott (Sonya Laurie), Springhill; grandchildren, Aiyana, Paislee, Matteo, Emma, Nakoma, Nakai; siblings, Lise Alain, Quebec City; Jacqueline Alain (Bruce MacIntosh), Lincoln, New Brunswick; Aurele (Sheila) Alain, Ottawa; several nieces and nephews.
