Harding Ross MacPhee, 73, of East Stewiacke sadly and unexpectedly passed away on November 3, 2025. Born in Truro, he was the son of the late Ross and Thelma MacPhee.
Harding and the love of his life, Sheila, met as teenagers and over the past five decades raised a family and built a successful life together. Known for their hard work and kindness, they served as role models for their children and grandchildren and with care and dedication maintained their family home and property impeccably.
As a pillar of the community, Harding spent his entire life in East Stewiacke. He was a wonderful neighbour and friend who was always the first person there with tools in hand if someone’s basement flooded or a project needed to be tackled. Not one for sitting idle, unless just resting his eyes, his girls knew they merely had to mention something and Dad would already be figuring out a way to get it done.
Harding spent his working career as an electrician, making many connections along the way and finally retiring with the IBEW Local# 0625 union. In retirement, he often contributed his electrical expertise to projects led by family and friends.
However, Harding’s true passion was working in the woods where his prized possession was his porter. Whether it was managing the woodlots with his son Chris or splitting firewood with Sheila and the grandkids, being in the woods with his family was always special.
Above all else, Harding was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family immensely and enjoyed any chance for them to gather at his house. 'Bampie' relished every moment spent with his grandchildren and was proud of their many accomplishments. He enjoyed teaching life skills and helping them out whenever possible.
Harding is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sheila (Fisher); and his children, Nancy (Dwayne) MacPhee, Chris (Alanna) McPhee, Michelle (Bert) Harbers. Bampie will be deeply missed by his seven grandchildren, Mitchell (Victoria) and Cameron (Veronica) Brown, Norah and Owen McPhee, and Ross, Audrey and Levi Harbers. He is also survived by his brother, Garth (Wanda); nieces, Patty and Brenda; and lifelong best friend, Lee Brenton.
Cremation has taken place and the family will celebrate Harding's legacy by receiving visitors from 2-4 pm on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Harding to Pine Grove Cemetery are welcomed.
