Linda Cavanaugh – 75, North River. It is with deep
love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Cavanaugh
on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre,
Truro. Born in Truro, Linda was a daughter of the late Harvey and
Alice (Rae) McNutt.
Linda and her husband, Ron owned and operated Grant's Grocery
in North River for over forty years. From her spot behind the counter,
Linda never met a stranger and enjoyed every chance to catch up with
neighbours and friends. Her love showed up in everyday
ways—through the care she gave, the cookies she baked, the
stories she shared, and the welcoming presence she offered to those
around her. She created a sense of home and belonging that her family
and friends will carry with them always.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Wanda (Matt
Moore) and Peter (Claudia Roberts); brothers and sisters, Grace
Cavanaugh (Harry Dobson), Charlie McNutt, Hugh McNutt, Hazel
Cavanaugh, Jim (Joanne) McNutt, Dan McNutt and Cathy (David) Lynds.
Nanny Linny also showered love on her 'chosen' grandchildren, Patrick
(Dominique), Cameron (Holly) and Carter Bell; Isla Stoker; Chloe, Cali
and Ruby McCabe; and Cole, Danielle and Haeleigh Moore; numerous
in-laws, nieces, nephews, many friends and extended
family.
For the past two years, her focus was on caring for her
husband, Ron, visiting him daily at The Mira, ensuring he was well-fed
and cared for, providing a shining example of love and commitment.
Linda's caring extended to others living and working on the unit as
well, as she learned their stories and became their friend. Though her
passing was sudden, the impact of her life is lasting. She leaves
behind a legacy of love, resilience, and care that will continue to
shape those who knew her.
Special thanks to the staff and doctors on the Stroke and
Palliative Care Units at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –

2026. Reception will follow. Interment at a later date in Blackmore
Memorial Cemetery, Upper North River. If so desired, donations in
