Martena Erma Hendsbee – 82, Truro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Erma (Murray) Rushton.

Martena was a member of The Peoples Church in Truro. She was well known for sending all occasion cards to many people, and this gesture will be missed. She enjoyed Friday coffee get-togethers with her friends for many years. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Martena is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Wendell; daughter, Amy (Chris) Dail, Fall River; grandchildren, Peter Dail, Jasper Dail, Ruby Dail, Ivy Dail, all of Fall River; sister-in-law, Kathryn Rushton, Vancouver, British Columbia; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Gwen Rushton, Brian Rushton.

Private interment will be held in Bible Hill Cemetery, 41 Warren Drive, Bible Hill. If so desired, donations in Martena’s memory to Colchester Christian Academy are welcomed.
