Wanda MacMillan - 77, Central North River, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Truro, Wanda was the beloved daughter of the late Ardith (Lynds) and Ronald Tattrie of Belmont. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched all who knew her.
Wanda was predeceased by her devoted husband of fifty years, Granville, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and treasured memories. She leaves behind her loving family, including her two sons, Adam (Jana), and their son, Jack (Sydney), and Marc (Tina), and their children, Hailey, Emma, and Dylan (Maitland). She is also survived by her siblings, Virginia (Jenny), Susan, Randy, and Wade, who will forever cherish the many lively conversations, laughter, and special moments shared at the family home in Belmont.
Wanda dedicated her life to caring for others. A proud graduate of Victoria General School of Nursing (Class of 1970), she served as a Registered Nurse and spent much of her career at Colchester Regional Hospital in Truro, where she held a respected senior role for many years. Committed to lifelong learning, she later earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Francis Xavier University. Even after retiring from the hospital, Wanda continued to give of herself, providing compassionate care at Townsview Estates and Cedarstone Enhanced Care until her final retirement in 2016.
Beyond her career, Wanda found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved reading, knitting, and discovering hidden treasures at yard sales. She enjoyed day trips and cheering on the races with Granville, but above all, she cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Wanda will be remembered for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to both her family and her profession. Her legacy of compassion and care lives on in all those whose lives she touched.
In keeping with Wanda’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Those wishing to honour her memory may consider a donation to Canadian Cancer Society. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
