Glendon William "Glen" MacMeekin – 64,
Kemptown. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing
of Glendon William "Glen" MacMeekin on Tuesday, July 7,
2026, at home, as a result of a ruptured aorta. Born in Truro, he was
a son of the late Bill and Bessie (MacDonald)
MacMeekin.
Glen worked at Crossley Carpets for several years where he
made many lifelong friends.
Being in the woods hunting, fishing and trapping
weren’t just his hobbies, they were his way of life. He
loved spending time with family and friends, and his cat, Boots. Glen
never passed up an opportunity to go four-wheeling or snowmobiling,
and he was always up for a good laugh.
Glen took great pride in his home and property in Kemptown of
over 40 years. He kept busy with projects to improve and maintain it,
finding great happiness in caring for the place he
loved.
Glen and his son, Trevor, had a very special bond. Although
they had their moments, like most fathers and sons do, the love they
had for each other was immeasurable. Trevor was Glen’s pride
and joy, and they enjoyed doing many things together.
Glen is survived by his son, Trevor MacMeekin (Emma), Truro;
brother, Wayne MacMeekin (Janet), Truro; sisters, Heather Canton
(Tom), Truro; Sandra Petrie, Ontario; sister-in-law, Sandra MacMeekin,
Truro; many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was
predeceased by his brother, Randy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Glen’s
family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2026. In
keeping with Glen’s unique sense of style and his want to be
comfortable, please dress casually!
