Mark Wilcox – 61, Bible Hill. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son and brother, Mark, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Sandy Point, Shelburne, he was the son of Winnie (Stoddart) Wilcox, Shubenacadie, and the late Neil Wilcox. He spent most of his early life growing up in Shubenacadie before settling in Truro with his family.

Mark graduated from Halifax Business Academy in1980 and had a successful career as a Financial Planner for well over 25 years, starting with Household Finance and then with Investors Group until he retired. He worked hard and loved what he did. From an early age, he had an interest in the outdoors. He was very active in Scouts which sparked his interest in the outdoors, hiking and camping, and achieved one of the highest youth awards in the Scouting movement called the Queen Scout Award. He also took on the role as a Scout leader once his sons joined the Scout movement. He was active in the community throughout his life and in retirement, took on his passion for building and woodworking, creating beautiful pieces with the plan to start his own online business.

Mark was a man whose presence lit up a room. He knew how to make people laugh, cracked lots of jokes and would always be ready with a witty comeback. He had the kindest heart and was selfless, always offering a helping hand to those in need and never expected anything in return.

Mark was a devoted husband, loving his wife Liz unconditionally for 43 years, weathering any storm and together built a beautiful life together. As a devoted family man, Mark was so proud of his sons, Devon and Brandon, supporting them throughout their lives and that love has shaped who they are today.

Despite health challenges over the years, Mark embraced life with positivity whether it was spending time in Pictou at the family cottage, going camping with Liz and the boys, winter camp trips with friends, cracking jokes with his Aunt Marion, backyard get togethers with family and friends or hitting the road on his motorcycle with his buddies. The close bonds he built with friends and family throughout his life will keep his memory alive.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth (Jayasinghe); sons, Devon (Lakeisha Blackmore) Wilcox, Brandon (Maryssa) Wilcox; mother, Winnie Wilcox; brother, Michael (Tammy) Wilcox; brother-in-law, Gary (Jaquelyn) Jayasinghe; sister-in-law, Virginia (David)  Fraser; nephews, Andrew McWatch, Patrick (Courtney) Jayasinghe, Trenton (Shauna) Wilcox, Katie (Michael) Kanasevich; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Mark was predeceased by his father, Neil Wilcox.

Special thanks to physicians Dr. Kris Srivasta (ICU), Dr, James Patterson (Palliative Care), staff of ICU and Palliative Care Units at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Dr. Steve Ellis and Dr. Karla Armsworthy for their unwavering support and care given to our family during Mark’s final journey.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the love, support and compassion shown during this difficult time. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him and will forever be in our hearts.
